Since the beginning of time, people have searched for ways to diminish the inevitable signs of aging; to restore the smooth, radiant glow of youthful skin. Today’s advanced IPL laser technology has finally made it possible.

Permanent Hair Reduction & Removal
IPL hair removal is among the more popular cosmetic procedures performed worldwide. Our advanced approach to beauty provides you with the kind of hair removal treatments our clients can depend on for excellent results.
A number of hair removal methods are available on the market, including shaving, waxing, sugaring, chemical depilation, and electrolysis. However, these options can be painful, and the results may not last long. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) laser hair removal is an advanced procedure that offers excellent, long lasting results.

How It Works

IPL laser hair removal works by selectively targeting melanin in hair follicles, which means minimal irritation to the surrounding skin. It produces the best results in people with dark hair and light skin, as the laser tends to affect the melanin present in the skin.
During the procedure a handheld laser instrument is used. A laser light beam pulses from the instrument for a fraction of a second. The pulse then passes through the skin and disables the hair follicle, inhibiting future hair growth. We will discuss treatment requirements with you, including the number of sessions and the recommended interval between sessions, according to your specific needs.
Our method of treatment minimizes discomfort and redness, and is safe for most skin types. IPL laser hair removal treatment is particularly known for its speed and long-term results.

Both the pleasure and stresses of life, along with the simple passage of time, tend to cause our skin to appear older. IPL Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment that erases skin damage without disruption of the skin's surface, hence, no "downtime".

Using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), we can simultaneously treat a wide range of facial concerns safely and effectively, such as broken capillaries, skin discoloration, age spots, freckles, mottled pigmentation and the symptoms of rosacea.

"I no longer need to worry about my blemishes. I can't believe my eyes!"

Photorejuvenation provides long-term improvement of complexion and skin texture, with only the slightest interruption in your busy lifestyle. Treated conditions include:

•Age spots (liver spots)
•Enlarged pores
•Visible blood vessels
•Unwanted freckles
•Sun damage

If you are active, this may be the right treatment for you. It requires no downtime and you will begin to see results immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • What part of my face or body can I treat and are there any health risks?
All areas of face and body, except area directly around the eyes and the inside of nose and ears can be treated safely and effectively. Our IPL laser hair removal treatment equipment is safe, FDA-approved, and all UV light is carefully filtered out. Protective eyewear is provided.
  • Is it painful? How long does it take?
Some clients describe a ‘pins and needles’ sensation, others a sensation of a ‘thin rubber band flick’. Treatments are usually comfortable with very minimal discomfort, if any.
Treatments are quick and are often done during coffee or lunch breaks or before/after work. Times required for each session vary depending on the actual area being treated.
•Face or underarms = treatment time: 10 min
•Bikini or Brazilian = treatment time: 15 min
•1/2 leg (both) or full back/chest = treatment time: 45-60 min.
  • Do I have to miss work or scheduled social functions?
No. This procedure is a "no downtime" procedure meaning that you may return to all scheduled activities immediately.

  • What will my skin look like after the procedure has been done?
Your skin may look slightly flushed temporarily. This mild "glow" will usually not be noticed by other individuals. If you wish, you may apply powder or make-up right away.

  • Is the procedure painful?
You will experience a slight sensation as the pulses of therapeutic light are passed over your skin. The sensation is very mild and easily tolerated. Topical anaesthic creams are not required but are available for individuals who wish to numb the skin.

  • Will I be able to interrupt my treatments for a holiday or trip or other event?
Yes. We are able to reschedule your visit and will always endeavour to accomodate necessary changes. We request notice as soon as possible in advance as that time has been reserved for your treatment. We appreciate seven days notice for rescheduling.

  • Can I have a treatment while my skin is tanned?
No. We prefer to treat skin that is not tanned, although a slight "chronic" tan may be acceptable. Dr Day will assess your skin at the time of your consultation.

  • Can I wear makeup after laser treatment?[+]
Makeup may be used after treatment. Use moisturizer on the treated area frequently so that dead hair will exfoliate from the follicle.

  • Is laser hair removal permanent?
Everyone is unique and will react differently to the laser. The FDA has approved several types of lasers as permanent hair reduction devices. That does not mean 100% hair removal. What it does mean is that a significant percentage of hair that is treated with the laser will not grow back. Each session should prove to be more successful at removing the remaining hairs than the previous.

  • How long does each session take?
Treatments can take from just a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the size of the area being treated. The area being treated determines the time of each session. A smaller area, such as the bikini or the under arm, can take as little as ten to fifteen minutes, as opposed to the back or leg which can take up to an hour.

  • How many sessions will I need for hair removal?
On average, people need six sessions to really see results, meaning about 80% hair reduction in the area treated.

  • Are there any dangerous risks to laser hair removal?
The FDA has approved laser hair removal as a safe procedure. To-date, there have been no illnesses or diseases related to the laser. In fact, our everyday exposure to the sun has seen more significant risks than the use of the laser.
  • What areas can be treated?
Aside from the area close to the eye, almost any area of the body with excess hair can be treated with lasers. Most commonly, patients ask for treatments for their face, upper lip, neck, chest, breasts, underarms, back, abdomen, bikini line and legs.

  • How should I prepare for IPL laser hair removal?
Have the area to be treated freshly shaven, at least one day prior to the treatment. Don't wax or pluck the hair, or undergo electrolysis three weeks before treatment.
  • I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Will IPL laser hair removal work for me?[+]
Yes, and it works quite well. PCOS patients are women who have a "hormone issue" that results in a male pattern of hair growth. This is often both a physical and emotional issue for these patients many of who are on medical therapy. Pills will not make a noticeable difference in your hair growth but lasers will get reduction of anywhere from 60-80%. Our goal is to reduce the maintenance that you have to do substantially and reduce the growth of unwanted facial hair tremendously. We tell all of our PCOS patients to expect to do touch up sessions anywhere from 2-3x/year after completing a package. The results in the PCOS patients are some of the most rewarding to us. These women also have increased hair growth on other body parts including the back, buttocks, neck and more and we can treat these areas as well.
  • What are the aftercare instructions?
Keep the area clean and dry. For the first few days, do not scrub or irritate the skin with heavy creams, chemicals, lotions or sun exposure. Use sunscreen with SPF 45 or greater. Apply moisturizers, cold compresses or over-the-counter steroid creams at your discretion. Contact your physician if you develop blisters, scabbing or signs of infection. Your hair will still appear to grow for two or three weeks as it falls out. Additional treatments can be performed until you achieve the desired effect.
